So yesterday was our nineties party, and it went pretty well. A lot of good dress-ups and old T-shirts. The music was good/bad/hilarious and we watched random parts of Pulp Fiction in between. I will try to get the pictures up on my facebook soon.
This past week flew by even faster than the last; that is starting to freak me out. January is almost over. I'm afraid I am going to open my eyes tomorrow morning, and we'll be in the middle of June or something. I need to start making lists of short-term goals to accomplish. Especially with respect to home improving.
Once spring is here, we need to put up a new fence. Right now, our rotten fence is missing whole boards and parts of boards. I feel like it's an eyesore. But considering some of the interesting things in this neighborhood, perhaps I am agonizing over it for nothing. It'll also be nice to have a fenced-in backyard where the dogs can play off-leash. Then we can look forward to backyard BBQ's!

Update for Jan 19th
Last week went by so quickly. The first week of the new semester started for me last week, and started for Johann today. Johann is teaching and researching as always, I signed up for Chem for Health Professions and Nutrition & Life Cycles (sounds incredibly interesting to me). The cost of books was insane, on top of tuition. Chem supplies= bookstore's gonna rip me off.
Johann has been spending his downtime working on a mountain bike so he can ride in this crazy winter weather. He's a member of the bike co-op here in Urbana, and the bike is looking great! Once he's finished, I will take a picture to put up here. It needs a paint job though, because it looks like a girl's bike from the 80's (hot orange with other random colors). I spend my downtime on less productive things, like the internet :)
This weekend was fun; Our neighbor Liz came over and helped me drink some Chardonnay Friday night. Last week was crazy for her too, so I was happy to help her unwind. Agro took quite a shining to Liz, he even cried as she was leaving. Saturday night, I went to a "Slumber Party" at a girlfriend's house and then Johann and I watched the movie the Hurt Locker at another friend's house.
We're gearing up for our own 90's party this Saturday, which should be a lot of fun. It was fun making the playlist, but also a little embarrassing since I realized just how BAD pop music was back then- except for alt rock of course. It'll still be fun. Then we can focus on the Superbowl!!!

New Blog for the New Year!

Welcome everyone to our new blog! We (and by we, I mean me- Amber) decided to create a blog so that family and friends can keep up with what we're doing. We understand not everyone is on facebook, myspace, and livejournal has become passe. That being said, here's what's been going on with us so far...
For Christmas, we went to Mexico City to visit Johann's parents who moved there for work. Johann's sister Liz was there, too. We miss the food there already! We had such a great time there; saw a lot of the city, museums, Xmas party, climbed the sun pyramid in Teotihuacan, etc etc. Can't wait to go back.
For New Year's, we took a roadtrip to Columbus with our friends Jesse, his girlfriend Caroline, and our newest friend Mahdi. Bart & Lisa are awesome hosts, their house is awesome and there was always yummy food to be had. They had a get-together for the new year and we met their friends, played a funny half-game of cranium, and had a good time. We also got a quick, Bart-led tour of the Ohio State campus. It was quick because it was freezing (I think near 8 degrees or less). Good times!
Since then, we have gone back to work (mostly). Johann has been going back to campus to meet with his advisor. We both stayed home on Thur the 7th: Johann because of the winter snow storm, me because my assignment let me go for the day and I had been dealing with some GI problems since the weekend. It was nice to stay home together and relax.
This weekend, we saw Sherlock Holmes, which was great! Guy Ritchie can be hit or miss, but this was a good movie. I hope he does more of them! Yesterday, I pretty much stayed on the couch since I wasn't feeling optimum. The dogs appreciated it, since they got a well-deserved bath and were freezing afterwards. Johann made caipirinhas, and we just hung out being lazy. Today we have been productive. We got up early, made pancakes for breakfast, I did dishes and started a potroast for dinner, Johann ran some errands and went grocery shopping, and I painted the inside of our hall closet. We're hoping to get the shelf and hanger-bar up today so it will be a fully functional closet- yay!
Happy 2010 Everyone! Here's a copy of our holiday card picture if you didn't get to see it.
